A long awaited update!

As I have been quiet for a little while I thought it was about time I wrote a blog to let everyone know how we are getting on with Blossom Africa!

We have been busy working ‘behind the scenes’ to build the foundations of Blossom Africa. We have spent a lot of time working on our Business plan which includes our vision, mission and objectives and will guide all of our work over the next few years. We have also continued to raise funds with the support of a few dedicated supporters and are in a position to apply for charitable status which we are now in the process of doing.

We have our very own logo which we are very happy with and a presence on facebook and twitter so please ‘like’ and ‘follow’ us if you haven’t already done so! We have also been fortunate to have the support off a graphic designer who has created some snazzy posters, flyers and business cards for us and of course we have been working on our website. Im sure you will agree that the website is looking good now and has lots of information about our work, our trustees and lots of lovely images of Uganda!

We have a Blossom Africa bank account and can now accept one off and regular donations. Information about donating to us can be found on the 'Get Involved' page of our website.

The most important thing is that we now have a clear vision of where we are going (this has taken a surprisingly long time to achieve!) and are at the stage of seeking individuals and organisations who can help us to develop the training program which we will deliver to the community.

The last blog I wrote was just over a year ago following our last visit to Uganda. Our plans to develop a training programme which will improve the communities ability to develop and run their own community projects have not changed. We still have this vision and conducted a needs assessment earlier this year with our ‘Active’ community members and they are still very keen to work with us and the need within the community is still very much there! Blossom Africa will endeavor to offer longer term support over several years to community groups to ensure that the benefits from the training are not lost and are nurtured to a point where the community members have experienced significant changes in their lives.

We are now looking at building our public presence and awareness of Blossom Africa and would love to hear from you if you would like to help with this. Likewise, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or comments!

Thanks for reading!
